Divas narrowly fall to Freo.

After another step in the right direction it wasn’t to be the Divas day. On a glorious Sunday for football, Baldivis started strongly with their imposing defence on top early.

Freo tried all they could but couldn’t get past the back paring of Molly Jones and Martina Conway-Mortimer. In spite of their dominance Baldivis struggled to impact the scoreboard.

Against the run of play Freo drew first blood with a high looping shot that just snuck in punishing the visitors. It was then Freo’s turn to apply the pressure. Mounting successive charges towards goal.

An OG just before the half saw the Divas go down 2 – 0. The second half belonged to the Divas. As the defence got on top again. Debutant Maisie Hughes shielded the defence again and again breaking up play. Baldivis pegged one back when Georgie Gwinnutt was thrust into the forward line.

The elation was short lived however with starlet Sasha Wayne going down with a suspected ACL injury.

Final score 2-1
